Meet Nicole Johna

Nicole Johna, special education attorney of InformED Parents.

Nicole was born and raised in Los Angeles, where she is raising two school-aged boys with her husband. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, then returned to California to earn her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law.

While in law school, Nicole discovered special education law - and it became her life’s work. Over twenty years, she's represented families through assessments, IEP meetings, and due process disputes. But over those two decades, she also noticed something important: families often needed more than legal representation. They needed expert guidance navigating the entire educational landscape - finding the right schools, identifying the right supports, coordinating their child's team.

She realized her two decades of experience in special education law had given her something valuable: a deep understanding of how education systems work, who the key players are, what actually moves the needle for kids, and how to build partnerships that create real change.

Nicole’s extensive experience has made her an invaluable resource for parents looking to level up their child's education. Her collaborative efforts and reputation with schools and service providers have allowed for meaningful partnerships, paving the way for greater success.
